We went there. And we loved it. Bring on the snail!

27 Jan

Not a common picture you’ll see in skincare in the US. In Korea and France, snail enzyme is a hugely popular and loved skincare ingredient. We agree, it’s not something we want to put on our faces, so it took a while to convince us, but now we can’t stop.

First of all, let’s just clear the air. The snail secretion that is collected after the snail leaves a trail is from cultured snails in a lab and the secretion is treated and completely purified before being included in skincare products. No safety concerns. And loved by the Koreans, Japanese and French.

So what are the benefits?

“Scientists in Spain and the USA confirmed their studies of the “Molecular Basis for the Regenerative Properties of a Secretion of the Mollusk Cryptomphalus Aspersa”. These creatures possess incredible skin regenerative properties. According to this study, the fluid substance that land snails secrete protects them from free radicals, environmental pollution and UV radiation.”

So what does it do for you? In short, it helps with acne, is a powerful anti-aging, and is even known to remove stretch marks:

1) It speeds up cell regeneration – healthier, more radiant skin, less acne with less dead skin buildup.

2) It heals blemishes. Its enzymes rearrange acne tissue to heal acne wounds. Its use for healing dates back from Hippocrates time; reports that he would advise his patients to apply crushed snails to wounds. This extract hydrates while healing. It also helps remove the redness of blemishes.

3) Awesome hydrator – moisturizes the inside and outside of the skin! Holds incredible water weight.

4) Major firmness booster – majorly activates collagen and elastin production.

Proof is in the pudding!

Millions of consumers across Korea, Japan and France have tried these miracle products and can’t stop. So in Korea, every single major beauty brand now has a snail enzyme-based product as these always fly off shelves.

Peach and Lily experience

We LOVE it. It does hydrate a lot, but most noticeably, after 3 weeks of continued use, skin felt noticeably firmer and also  blemishes were signiiiificantly diminished.

This ingredient is here to stay in the beauty world and we think will soon become a global sensation. Specialty US brands in the States swear by this ingredient. We’re going to have to agree.

Don’t judge a book by its cover. This tiny thing and its excretion have superhero skincare powers. And we love it.

Hi, sounds intriguing and amazing. Which product did you try?

Hi there! I’ve been using Mizon’s snail cream. It’s a no-nonsense cream that is quite affordable because they don’t add too many frills (fancy fragrances, etc) and keep the substantive stuff only. A staple product I love! (we’ll have this available here http://www.peachandlily.com in a few weeks, so we can keep you posted!). Hope that’s helpful!

Hi there! There is an affordable french brand elicina that gets fairly good reviews, though I’ve personally never tried it. In a few weeks, we’ll have a great one from Korea available here: http://www.peachandlily.com so definitely check it out if you’re interested! Hope that’s helpful!

I just tried the Mizon Snail Repair cream. I have dry skin (January and Feb have pretty much destroyed my face) and even after one application, I am noticing a difference in my skin. It feels firmer and “moisterized” (if that is even a word). I can’t wait to see the benefits after prolonged use! Thanks Peach & Lily for introducing me to such a great product.
